Lavoûte-Chilhac (French pronunciation: [lavut ʃijak]; Occitan: La Vòuta) is a commune in the Haute-Loire department in south-central France. It is a member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France (The Most Beautiful Villages of France) Association.
Geography
The village is located at an altitude of over 400 meters.
In the gorges of the Allier, the village of Lavoûte-Chilhac is about halfway between Langeac and Vieille-Brioude (end of the gorges of the Allier which then joins the Limagne de Brioude).
