Hollie Michelle Jervis (/ˈhɒli mɪˈʃɛl ˈʤɜːvɪs/; born 5 October 1984) is an English singer, best known for appearing as a contestant on the fifth series of British reality television music competition The X Factor in 2008. Jervis has used various pseudonyms throughout her career, including but not limited to Holly Jervis, Holli D. Grey, and Michelle Holli. Jervis is a prominent figure in hun culture.

Early life

Hollie Michelle Jervis was born on 5 October 1984 in Southampton, Hampshire to Graham Jervis and his wife Tania (née Sporne). Her family subsequently relocated to the Isle of Wight. She attended Sandown Bay Academy as a child, and embarked on a career in theatre after seeing her friend take piano lessons and Jervis was jealous.

Career

Jervis began her music career performing at weddings, hotels, and holiday camps across England including Parkdean Resorts. In August 2008, at the age of 23, she auditioned for the fifth series of The X Factor, in which she performed a rendition of "Big, Blonde and Beautiful" by Queen Latifah, as featured in Hairspray. Jervis's demeanour was received positively by some viewers, however judges (Cheryl, Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue, and Louis Walsh) unanimously denied her entry into the next stage of the competition, with Cowell comparing her mouth unfavourably to a cave, and Minogue claiming that the performance was 'verging on funny rather than serious'. However, Cheryl asserted that Jervis 'sold herself' and suggested she 'take up preaching or speeching '.
